This is a big (more than 2 metres) painting, of the landscape around Elewijt Castle in Brabant. There are various interpretations of its symbolism, but regardless of that kind of dead-end discussion, what a fantastic scene. That arcade of trees is magical. The prolific Rubens is famous for his fat ladies, to put it simply. This landscape is better than any of them.
