Menage a trois: Gordon and Peter and Tony

This is not an original post, but it bears repeating. Richard Littlejohn used to publicly wonder what exactly had Peter Mandelson got on Tony Blair, that the latter continually brought back a clearly mendacious and unpopular chancer, who seemed to many to be rather “lucky” not to have been prosecuted. Littlejohn had a point.

Well, here we are again. An unelected leader of the Labour Party has unexpectedly given huge powers and a seat in the Lords to his unelected former worst enemy – and flatmate.

What exactly has Peter Mandelson got on Gordon Brown?

On the other hand you could argue that Mandelson’s “past” loathing of Brown has been mysteriously put aside to help his new buddy try to win the election – and has him working in the same vicious and aggressive team as his other worst enemy, the deeply unpleasant Charlie Whelan –   because he is a little concerned about the consequences of him not helping out. After all, Gordon losing would at one time have had Mandy smirking with delight.
