Quentin Massys ( 1466 – 1530) was an important painter in the Northern Renaissance, specialising in expressive literal portraits, ostensibly as part of a broader theme. His Ugly Duchess is well known.
Dr Rajendra Pachauri is the railway engineer, romantic novelist and businessman, who is Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a UN body which plays fast and loose with the facts. Mysteriously, the leading article in The Independent today refers to him as Sir Rajendra Pachauri, possibly confusing him with the titled lady whom he so resembles.
The leader is worth reading, revealing as it does the fiendish plot by SMERSH and others to discredit the University of East Anglia, long feared by the tyrannical regimes in Moscow and Beijing.
